James works cross-functionally with the portfolio management, operations, relations, and the engineering team to build and evaluate products at scale. His work primarily aims to optimize client-facing workflows–by employing automation and developing integration capabilities with third-party vendors.
Background & Education
Before joining Aptus, James worked as a product manager at a legal tech startup in the San Francisco Bay Area. He worked with designers, developers, and other product managers to build consumer-facing products that would help an average Joe navigate the legal system. Prior to that, he worked in various biotechnology companies developing roadmaps for their product life cycles.
He graduated from Stanford University with a BS in Bioengineering and MS in Chemical Engineering.
Outside of the Office
He still resides near his alma mater in the Bay Area, eager to visit the HQ in Fairhope, Alabama whenever he can (only when the humidity is bearable). You can also catch him playing basketball 4 times a week, attempting to break people’s ankles only to end up breaking his own.
“Three P’s: People, Product, and Potential. The moment I met the team, I could feel the passion they put into their work. A product that also works was just icing on the top. It was a no-brainer when I realized that what I could offer could help Aptus reach its full potential.”
